Benefits of Membership in the MTA

INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP

  • Includes membership for all trustees and the Executive Director (or other designated staff person) of member museums.

  • Educational Conferences each year, featuring noted experts and scholars presenting new or better ways to approach topics such as museum funding, planning, the roles of trustees and museum staff, the relationship between trustees and their community officials, and much, much more. Opportunities to network with the best experts of all – your fellow trustees. Find out who's doing what, where and when; discover what works and what doesn't. Special registration discounts are always extended to members for the annual MTA Assembly.

  • Quality Publications, Resources and Guides, including discounts on the new Templates for Trustees series published by the MTA.

  • MTA Briefings , our quarterly newsletter, providing informative updates on tax and legislative issues and briefs, news of upcoming events, helpful hints, articles and guides to assist you in your important stewardship role.

  • Trustee-to-Trustee Workshops – on-site, local, state or regional educational programs for trustees, tailored to address your unique needs and presented by experienced trustees. (Available to institutional members only.)

  • Trustee Information Center (TIC) – a clearinghouse for information related to governance (handy reference resources, trustee "tool kits," publications, board and director assessment materials, audio and video cassette tapes).

  • The "Peer-to-Peer" or Knowledge Broker Network – access to a nationwide network of fellow trustees, providing opportunities to share information and discuss policy, compare fundraising strategies, examine ethics issues, talk about governance and other areas of mutual concern.

  • Exposure to other museums , their staffs and programs, with special behind-the-scenes visits and tours.

 

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP

The Patrons Society and the Friends of the MTA

Patrons are eligible for all of the above, in addition to receiving invitations to private tours and exclusive "Patron only" receptions and dinners in the homes of many of North America's most distinguished and important collectors.

Friends are eligible for all of the above benefits, in addition to attending a special event at the annual MTA Assembly.
